Story

Kolanut Technologies builds infrastructure for African engineering. We work with engineers, entrepreneurs, and citizens across the continent who want real products, native languages, and data they can own.

We started from a simple frustration: wanting to build as a young person in Africa and finding theory everywhere, practical tools nowhere. That gap is still here, and it is structural, not personal.

What we mean when we say it

People hear "African engineering" and think of a label. We mean a way of building: citizen reality first, shared craft across the continent, and a quality bar we would ship anywhere.

Start where people are

The phone in someone's hand. The language they think in. The network and power they can count on. Design for that first.

A shared design language, philosophy, and quality pass. The continent standing behind one standard, not fifty small labels.

Where your data lives, who can read it, and whether you can host it yourself. That is part of the craft from day one.

But the people we ultimately serve are citizens. Every man, woman, and child deserves technology that works for them, not technology they have to work around.

What we believe

Access is not a feature. It is the foundation.

We will tell you the steps and where to start. We will not dress things up in jargon or pretend the work is easier than it is. But we will build so that getting into tech is genuinely possible, no matter where you start from.

01Every person should have access to the same technology elites do, no matter their background.
02Tech should not feel foreign or distant. You should feel like a first-class citizen using it.
03Technical concepts should be understandable in your own language. Natively, not through jargon.
04Engineering tools should work on the phone you already have, not only on a laptop you cannot afford.
05When you are ready, you should be able to self-host your own stack.
